PAINTING IN MAINEAUGUST 2010
Outdoor “Plein-air” painting workshop for beginners & advanced amateurs who want to master the fundamentals of landscape painting. Studies will include perspective, tonal changes & basic color arrangements & more in oils and acrylics. The course will be restricted to 10 students with personalized attention & daily critiques from 8am to 4pm with a break for lunch. Ben Georgia is a master colorist and has been a successful working professional artist for 30 years. A past student of Theodore Stamos, one of the original New York Abstract Expressionists, Ben Georgia has gallery representation in New York City, Lichfield County, CT and Nantucket. (See bengeorgia.com for his abstract work). The cost of the 4 day course is $375.US. Bring you own art supplies. Very reasonable B&B accommodations are available in town. The course will be in Eastport Maine on the stunning, beautiful natural pristine Passamaquoddy Bay. Eastport is the unknown, unspoiled “gem” of the New England states with a beautiful fishing harbor, quaint 19th century clapboard houses and plenty of great walkabout views of the water. Other attractions are whale watching, local lobster, walking, Wednesday classical concerts in Lubec- (travel there by fishing boat), Sunday film festivals, visit F.D. Roosevelt’s “cottage” on Campobello Island (bring your passport). Many charming B& B’s and restaurants are in town. Two favorites are the Kilby House & the Pickled Herring.
